Shannon Nichols, MA
Shannon is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She enjoys helping individuals, couples, and families (18+) explore their lived experiences in the safety of the counseling relationship.
Shannon specializes in trauma, LGBTQIA+-related issues, anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief, oppression/marginalization, and stress/burnout.
Shannon holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Family and Relationship Therapy from Rollins College. She completed her clinical practicum at Total Health Guidance in Orlando, FL and her internship at The Mindful Practice in Winter Park, FL.
Shannon uses an integrative approach that draws from trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, multicultural, and attachment-based approaches. She invites clients to share their life stories and explore their inner worlds and interpersonal relationships in a nonjudgmental space. Shannon empowers her clients by helping them to deepen insight, practice self-compassion and mindfulness, and process significant relationships and events in the past that might still be impacting them today.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys traveling, playing music, writing, yoga, meditation, and biking. She is an avid lover of the outdoors and appreciates any activity that puts her in nature. Shannon has a background in herbal medicine and has a passion for exploring the mind-body-emotion connection in relation to the natural world.
